Confidentiality is of prime importance to us. Our editors maintain absolute confidentiality when revising all materials. We do not discuss any part of the work with anyone outside of our organization; we do not disclose information contained or implied in a client's materials.
In most cases, we will return your revised materials in ~7-10 days. If you require accelerated revision, then we may be able to perform the revision in only 2–4 days.
One of our primary goals is to maintain your intended meaning; i.e., we do not want to “change your science.” Hence, if we are unsure of your intended meaning, we make a comment in our Analysis Document (see below). Generally, our Analysis offers you choices of interpretations, all of which are written in proper English, with the goal that you will be able to select the one choice that accurately conveys your intended meaning.
Our Analysis Document is a very important part of our service. The Analysis is returned to you along with your revised manuscript. The Analysis contains specific points regarding areas in your documents (or figures) that need your special attention. For example, it gives details on potential ambiguities (or incompleteness) in the description of your data, results or techniques. Importantly, we may also propose questions/criticisms that we feel may arise during peer review. After you read the revised manuscript, at no additional fee we will address any questions you may have regarding our comments in the Analysis. For more information, please refer to our Services page.
Each client’s materials are reviewed by at least two professional scientific editors who are also highly experienced research scientists or clinicians (Ph.D. or M.D.). In certain cases, three editors may participate in the revision.
We revise all documents in a methodical manner. A primary editor reviews/revises all the materials giving special attention to clarity, concision, and scientific content/merit. Subsequently, a secondary editor also revises the manuscript, looking for consistency and cohesiveness. If necessary, a third reviewer may read the manuscript as well.
Most likely, yes. We cover a broad range of disciplines in the biological sciences, including cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, evolution, pharmacology, development, behavior, medicine and structural biology (please see our Services page).
While it is not possible for us to give an exact fee estimate before actually performing the revision, we can give you an idea of what the “average” fee has been over our many years experience. Please see the next question "How much will BIOMEDITOR's revision cost?"
For an overview of our fees, please see our Fees page. In our many years of experience, the average fee has been ~$16 per page (reflecting manuscripts requiring various levels of revision). However, for many manuscripts requiring minimal English/content editing, the fee is <$16 per page; some manuscripts may be charged as little as $5 per page.
After we complete the revision of your manuscript, we will send you an invoice by e-mail (or by mail, if necessary). We accept three methods of payment:
1) PayPal secure online payment by credit card (VISA, MasterCard or Discover); 2) Electronic Transfer; 3) Check or money order
The invoice will include detailed instructions. Please refer to our Fees page.
